High School Percussion Ensemble Covers “Guyute” by Phish

This is why you should support music in schools.

Remember in high school when the orchestra performed selections from Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons"?  Or perhaps more exotic melodies from Holst's "The Planets"?  The trumpet section was always slightly out of tune and that one snare drummer never came in on the right beat?  Well, cast all of those stressful memories away, because a high school percussion ensemble in Connecticut is performing Phish...and performing it well.

Earlier this week, the Naugatuck High School Percussion Ensemble of Naugatuck, CT shared their performance of Phish's "Guyute" via Facebook.

Naugatuck High School winter percussion show. So proud of our local music students!!

Clearly, this group has a prowess for nailing Phish songs.  This talent is further exemplified by their performance of "Divided Sky," posted to YouTube last year.

Now, I think I know the question on everyone's mind:  when will they be performing their own arrangement of Farmhouse?  Either way, I don't think I've seen better evidence for keeping music in schools.
